AAGLM Accomplishments

Planter Art

One of the first projects of AAGLM is the planter art in the downtown planters. In the first four years of AAGLM foundation in 2005 (the brainchild of Karen Ragus and Mary Ellen Vinz) the planters downtown were created. The planters needed something to give them height, as at the time they were just square planters with low growing plants. Karen designed the metal sculptures using available materials from a metal supplier. The design was simple and effectively met the goal of achieving height. Bob Stigerwald of Bob’s Metal Works did all the welding and volunteers did the installations. Since then the plantings have been improved and they have made an “art” statement in the downtown area.
